St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital takes care of many toddler-age patients that get orthopedic surgery which requires a SPICA cast, a large cast that extends from the mid-chest to the ankle of the broken leg and requires a bar between the legs to help reinforce the cast and prevent breakage.
Since the cast stays in place for 8-12 weeks, simple transportation of a toddler from room to room or even to doctors’ appointments is challenging for parents. Due to the cumbersome nature of the cast, many times, if not most, a wheelchair will not accommodate the cast and a red wagon the safest mode of transport. The Little Red Wagon Fund provides wagons to families with financial constraints so they may take care of their injured child in the best way possible.
A donation of $50 will fund a wagon for a family in need. You may choose to fund a wagon or choose your donation amount. Gifts of all sizes are welcome.
