Each year, a number of children with life-threatening diseases from St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Tampa are flown to Camp Dream Street in California. They are accompanied by Dr. Mark Mogul, Medical Director of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Dream Street provides nationwide camping programs for children and young adults with cancer, chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Funded by the Dream Street Foundation, children are given the opportunity to enjoy activities they would normally be restricted from due to their illness, while Dream Street supports their medical needs.
For some of these children, it is the last time they will be out of a hospital environment. For some of their parents, it will be the last fond memory of their children.
The purpose of our fundraiser is to pay the expenses to send as many children who have life-threatening diseases as possible from St. Joseph’s in Tampa to Camp Dream Street in California.
“This summer will be my 21st year with Dream Street. It is has been my passion to be a part of this special place because it truly does fulfill dreams. Most camps for children with Cancer and Blood disorders accept campers who are very stable. At Dream Street, we say no to no camper irrespective of how sick they are or what stage their disease is. Every year at least one child “lives to go camping one more time” where they have the time of their life only to sadly pass on days to weeks later. Giving these special children that last week is such a blessing and one reason why I will always be a part of Dream Street. Thank you so much for your support!!” – Dr. Mark Mogul
