St. Joseph’s Hospital
Comfort, compassion and advanced care are the cornerstones of our patient experience.
Since our founding by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany nearly 75 years ago, St. Joseph’s has been the regional leader in medical excellence, improving the health of all we serve. We are the largest not-for-profit health care provider in Hillsborough County, caring for 350,000 patients each year. St. Joseph’s is home to several Centers of Excellence:
St. Joseph’s Heart Institute
A regional and national leader for innovative cardiac care – we were among the first locally to perform mitral valve repair and use the minimally invasive MicroMaze technique to treat Afib; the first in the country to successfully treat Afib with cryoablation; and among the first in the world to perform robotic surgery for arrhythmia.
The Neuroscience Institute
The Neuroscience Institute’s high-quality stroke and aneurysm program, named Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, is the only program in the state with a Stroke Attack Team. When paramedics first recognize the symptoms of stroke, they immediately call the St. Joseph’s Stroke Attack Team, alerting emergency physicians, neurologists, diagnostic professionals, radiology nurses and stroke nurses that a stroke patient is on the way — because “time is brain.”
St. Joseph’s Cancer Institute
The oncology treatment center of choice for more Hillsborough County residents than any other in our region.
