Children are at the heart of what we do.
When it comes to health care, children are not just “small adults.” Children have different diseases—sometimes even different symptoms—than those of adults, and their care requires specific expertise and appropriate equipment. As Tampa’s first acute care facility dedicated solely to children, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital (SJCH) was designed to ensure the highest quality pediatric care for children with even the most complex or chronic conditions.
Our children’s hospital is an all-private room facility that both accommodates and encourages a parent to room in. We know that children get better faster with the active involvement of family, and that parents know their children better than we ever could, so our facility provides day beds/sofas in every room and laundry facilities on every floor. Our 186-bed facility is home to a medical staff of nearly 200 physicians with nearly 80 pediatric specialists, representing almost every major pediatric sub-specialty. SJCH has earned a reputation for pediatric excellence that attracts families from across our region and beyond. We provide more acute medical and surgical pediatric care than all other hospitals in Hillsborough County and are the third largest children’s hospital in Florida.
St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation inspires the community to engage in philanthropic investment in the special brand of care that is St. Joseph’s Hospitals. Community support for St. Joseph’s reflects the trust and reliance generations of patients and families have in us, and has helped to preserve our rich tradition of compassionate care while fueling innovation and medical excellence, and making possible facilities, technology, programs and services to better serve each patient’s needs.
St. Joseph’s Hospitals Foundation is entrusted with the community’s philanthropic investment in St. Joseph’s Hospitals. As a qualified 501(c)3 charitable organization, our role is to secure, manage and steward philanthropic support to benefit the healthcare mission of St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital North, and St. Joseph’s Hospital South, all located in the greater Tampa, Florida region.
The Foundation secures private and corporate gifts and grants through annual giving programs, proposal submissions, major and planned gift development and special events. To fulfill this responsibility, the Foundation also conducts outreach and communication activities on behalf of our hospitals to engage the community in our mission. A professional staff is employed to carry out these programs and manage the administrative and financial responsibilities.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors made up of community-based volunteers, including business leaders, church representatives, and individuals who hold St. Joseph’s and health care among their personal charitable priorities.
